Mr Milton’s lifelong interest in rocks, minerals, and geological processes led to tertiary study at Victoria University of Wellington, where he graduated as a geologist. He worked with the New Zealand Geological Survey for a couple of years before shifting into supply logistics and procurement. His systematic background and attention to detail are clear in the documentation accompanying the specimens, which features the most detailed records Solaria has received to date. Alongside standard information such as mineral name, specimen type, and locality, his printed catalogue meticulously tracks where or from whom each piece was acquired, the year of acquisition, and the original purchase cost in local currency — adding invaluable historical and economic context to an already exceptional collection.
