Four fragments of quartz hosting iron sulfide mineralisation (likely Pyrite).
This specimen consists of quartz hosting disseminated grains of pyrite, an iron sulphide commonly known as “fool’s gold.” The metallic grey to brassy inclusions occur as small crystalline aggregates rather than large cubic crystals.
At Copperstain Creek, pyrite is typically associated with hydrothermal mineralisation, where mineral-rich fluids deposited sulphides within quartz veins. The subtle sparkle and scattered distribution of pyrite grains make this an instructive example of sulphide mineralisation within a silica matrix.
